I've had two of these things. I bought the first Gizmo, and it lasted less than a year. The second, a gift, lasted a little longer -- then it just stopped charging. Even before it died, it took a lot of effort to fit it onto the can, especially a narrow one. We didn't use it all that often, either, what with most cans having flip-top lids. I do like the way you can save space by hanging the charger unit from a cabinet, but I can't recommend this product. I'm surprised B&D is still making it.Customer Review: love this little GIZMO

I got interested in this can opener when I saw it on TV, but was really sold on it when I tried it for the first time. I use it all of the time and it has even worked well for large cans. I also like the fact that I can keep it in my drawer between uses and it keeps its charge well. It is such a great little opener that, after watching me use it, my father has requested two of them for himself - one for the house and one for his camper! I would recommend this product to anyone.Customer Review: To good to be true!

I saw this gadget can openner and thought wow that is realy neat. That would make opening big and small cans easy. It was great at first then I started to have problems with it. It was not holding a great charch or the cans opener was to dull. Also, on smaller cans I needed to be careful to watch that it does not fall over because of the can not being so heavy and the gadget being a little weighty. Maybe they will make some improvements. I have had this product for 2 years now. My sister had hers for 4 years. When my last can opener went, she recommended this to me. I would now recommend it to anyone. I even went out and got one for my aunt. I have read reviews about this product that say it is very hard to get onto the can. Last December we purchased the Gizmo at Ace Hdwe in Tucson AZ. We couldn't wait until we got home to charge this new wonder. What a wonder it turned out to be! After a month it would not keep a charge more than 1 day and we didn't open that many cans with it. By end of March it wouldn't keep a charge at all and of course Ace has a 30 day policy for returns. We had the clerk dump it in the trash and purchased an upright Black & Decker can opener.
