Customer Review: One star, only because ZERO is not an option....

I had put this on my Wish List for Christmas, but for some reason my sister got one for my MOM instead. However, being the anal-retentive that I am when it comes to purchasing a product I'm not familiar with, I researched the heck out of it, particularly consumer reviews like this one. Never before have I seen SO MANY pitiful reviews of a product, so I became a little leary and held off on purchasing one for myself before I found out how Mom's performed. This is how: it didn't. She couldn't even get it to hold a charge long enough to get the thing mounted on the can!!! She plugged it in to charge as soon as she got it, and a few hours later she took it off to try it out, and it died in her hands! So I told her about what I'd read in the reviews; we conceded that perhaps she just hadn't let it charge long enough. Before she remounted, curiosity got the best of her, and she tried to stick it on a can, just to see how it would fit, and ran into problems getting it to seat. Everytime she attempted to do so, the little 'piercing' blade mechanism would fall off. Not to be defeated, she remounted the opener on its cradle and left it to charge for TWO DAYS. This time when she took it off the cradle, she tested it, and it whirred (for less time than it takes to make it around a tuna can)...and died.
Black and Decker has come up with a nifty concept here; however, they don't seem too concerned about the quality of their products if they are continuing to market this despite all the feedback available at their fingertips. I don't know what the problem is, but I DO know that I would advise anyone against purchasing this little 'gizmo', unless you just particularly ENJOY being ripped off or make it a hobby to go to the time and expense to return BUYING MISTAKES.
