Customer Review: Works well for what it's worth

I've had this food processor for a little more than a year now, and even though I'm not completely happy with it, it works mostly okay, just with many minor issues. For the price, I could hardly complain.
Pros:
-Does what it's supposed to. I use my food processor a lot, though not excessively; and the results are always at least passable. Except for bread, I make all kinds of dough (scones, pasta, pastry, etc.) in it with much success. The basic chopping function also works fine.
-Ease of use. Operation is fairly simple and intuitive. You may not even need the manual to use it.
-Has a feed tube. Yes, minor detail, but I love this feature. Very helpful in making pastry when the amount of liquid has to be adjusted and other things like mayonnaise and pesto.
-Durability. Again, I've had this food processor for more than a year, and the parts don't show very much wear-and-tear yet. I use it to grind nuts fairly frequently and the plastic bowl is scratched very little.
-Dishwasher safe. As frequently as I use it, this is greatly appreciated.
Cons:
-Not very fine grind. This food processor can only chop food to a somewhat coarse grind, no matter how long you process it. I've never been able to make a pesto sauce that's not chunky with it. I don't know whether this is due to blades that are not very sharp or a weak engine, but you will not be able to make mixtures completely smooth or powdery in it.
-Loud. Very annoying when it runs. And I do mean very.
-Too many parts causing usability problems. The chute takes up additional space while not really providing any particularly necessary features. The chute opening can cause leakage (even with the insert) without any really usefulness as well.
-Shredding/slicing blade leaves impressions on products. If you try to slice or shred vegetables with the attached blade, it leaves bruise marks on the veggies. Not a huge issue, but it can be very disconcerting, and if you're preparing food to be eaten raw, then this function is completely useless.
Bottom line: So if you really need/want a food processor but don't have a whole lot of money to invest in a more expensive machine, this is an acceptable buy. It does basic things fine if you can overlook the associating issues. If you don't need this much capacity, a smaller but higher-quality food chopper at the same price may be an option; or just wait until you can get a pricier model that works better.
