This is the best chopper. I have a small food processor and a large food processor. I have purchased those handheld types that you pound up and down. I've went through several of those, because they are handy. Well this one is just as handy. It cleans up so easily. I don't have to twist parts to lock in place, just place the top over the non-skid bottom and BOOM! Your chopping. It doesn't mush your food either, it chops!

I am buying another one and I am so glad they are still sold. I bought one of these for everyone on my Christmas list in 2006, because I was so impressed by it. It is easy to clean, because of the top motor. Almost three years later and with constant use, I have never had a problem. The recipients of my Christmas gift still thank me, because they use it all the time and it works great for chopping. I love the fact that it chops green pepper and onions, without mushing them.I bought this to replace a Cuisenart mini chopper. I am buying one for the son of an earlier Christmas present recipient, because he talks about this device and how his mom loves it on taco night for chopping.

This piece of kitchen ware is simply the best gadget that makes life easy for working professionals.
1. Easy to setup and use

3. Ideal when cooking for 2 people as onions/tomatoes/chilly/garlic etc are quick & easy

Like to have in future versions:
1. Microwaveable base jar
2. Dishwasher compatibility
Tips for maximum satisfaction in the product:
1. Yes, as many have pointed out it does cut onions and other veges too fine if operated for > 5 seconds. The trick is to ensure that you load the vege pieces into the chopper such that they are as big a size the blade can chop/handle and use the right side button for coarse chopping!
2. Try to ensure that you clean the top surfaces/base surfaces immediately post usage so as to ensure that there are no odors that carry forward across to the next blend/purees!
I recommend this to every working professional who is stretched on time and likes to keep cooking simple & easy!

Got this chopper as a gift because I do a lot of cooking with garlic, herbs, onions, etc. that require chopping. For me, it does what I need it to do. I have a really small kitchen & this machine is wicked easy to store & clean.
It minces things like herbs & garlic perfectly, and if you pulse the button on,off,on,off it chops pretty darn well. I use it ALL the time, pretty much whenever I'm cooking or baking.
I don't know how other reviewers are having problems cleaning this machine- you wash the blade, bowl, & base with your dishes & wipe down the top with a damp sponge or paper towel. Not a problem for me.
Overall, it does a pretty good job mincing & chopping- (it's under $30, what do you really expect?). If you're looking for a perfect square chop every time it might not be the chopper for you, but it works well & I haven't had a technical problem with it since I've had it (about 6 months).
**I find that its great for making pureed soups. In batches, just give the soup a few quick pulses & you're left with a great thick, hearty mixture that's not too thick or thin.**

I searched high and wide for a small chopper to handle onions and other vegetables to use in sauces. I purchased several models at my local stores and returned them after one use. The simply could not chop onions. I read all the Amazon reviews on the EHC650 and decided to get one. I have not been disappointed. This unit does the job. I especially like the two speeds it offers. It is a pulse-only unit, which gives me more control on the chopping process. Pulse means the chopper only operates while the high or low speed button is pressed. The bowl comes with a lid that doubles as an anti-skid bottom cover. Very nice feature. This means I can chop something, then put in in the refrigerator with it's own cover to wait until I am ready to use it. Let's face it. This is not a very expensive purchase. But it really works well. The bowl only handles 3 cups. But that is not a problem for me because I do not chop huge amounts at any one time. I am very pleased with this unit and would highly recommend this to anyone. Now I can chop onions and not get tears! Good job Black & Decker. I expected a lot from this chopper because of all the great reviews.
I bought this to primarily dice vegetables, especially onions. There is a small distinction between finely diced and "too small" pieces with this food chopper. When I attempt to chop things to "finely diced", there are still several large pieces. If I give it a couple more spins, it becomes too finely chopped.
I'm stuck with either unevenly chopped vegetables, or vegetables that are too small to saute and burn.
Another thing that's bothersome is the top piece. It contains the motor and that part is never to touch water. Usually I'll use a damp napkin to wipe it down. However, I recently blended up some sauce that contained very aromatic spices. It's difficult to get the smell out without applying soap and water.
The underside of the top part also has writing throughout that bumps out. The mixed pieces gets stuck on these letters. If you're "blending" something with this, it'll stay in the grooves of each letter. Once again, it's difficult to get out without soap and water.
