Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker EHC650 2-Speed Food Chopper with 3-Cup Bowl

Customer Review: Black&Decker 3 cup-2 speed Food chopper
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this product after my baby refused to eat store bought baby food like Gerbers ect.
This was a good decision, as I could cook fresh vegetables, meats, fresh fruits and puree them to the consisitency needed for baby, and baby was getting freshly made food. He loved the fresh food!
I then would freeze individual portions of each food group-meats, fruits, vegetables in ice cube trays. I would then pop out foods from ice cube trays, and freeze in zip lock-labeled baggies of each food. Then I could pull food from zip-lock baggies, as needed to feed him.
I wouldn't be without this now!Black & Decker EHC650 3-Cup 2-Speed Food Chopper

Customer Review: Part of the puzzle
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this chopper as part of an effort to speed up making Thai curries from scratch . It performs well for chopping onions and other ingrediants like ginger and galangal. For dry spices we use a mason jar on top of a 16 speed Oster blender. That has the advantage of being glass -no odors or stains linger on glass. As it is most curries need a bit of liquid to turn into a paste and this is not the case if you use a mortar and pestle. The next stage is to move up to an Indian Mixie like a Sumeet , but the cost and reliability of these devices is questionable. For mundane things like nut chopping the Ergo shines. I just wish it was glass. Then I think it would be perfect . A year later I no longer wish it was glass -it is fine as it is and still works well.

Customer Review: Fantastic Processor, with top lid issues
Summary: 3 Stars

I love this food processor - its blades are really powerful and no matter how much I stuff into the container, everything gets chopped fantastically.

The only thing I don't like is that there is no way to wash the top part of the device, as it is electric and has the plug and wire. I'm not sure if this is so sanitary, especially when chopping meat. Bits of the plastic surrounding the screws on the top lid have fallen out (hopefully not into my food...), and chunks of food occasionally get caught in the cracks. It's annoying, and it would be so much better if the top had a snap-off lid that one could wash.

Also, be careful when using this chopper for seafood - the smell sticks to the plastic container, and requires a good scrubbing.

Customer Review: Perfect for making baby food
Summary: 5 Stars

We used this product from the time our baby was 5 months old. We've decided to make our own baby food - from apple sauce, pureed pears, peaches, plums to chopped chicken, pork and vegetables like spinach, carrots, peas, etc. It has worked wonders for us. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who decides not to feed jar food to their baby. I would stay away from the manual food mill sold at baby stores. It created more work as compared to this electric chopper.

PS. This makes excellent mashed potatoes. We use sweet potatoes too. Just prepare in batches, freeze in ice cube trays and when meal time comes, just heat the cube(s) in the microwave. One ice cube equals 1 oz of food so you know exactly how much your baby is getting.

Customer Review: Oh my God!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This litte device is a God send to my kitchen!! I absolutely HATE chopping onions. Now this little Black & Decker does it for me. I had tried other types of onion choppers, but didn't like any of them. This guy? Unbelievable! Quarter the onion, put it in, push the pulse button a few times, and voila!! Chopped onions!!! I've also used it to make salsa (works great), and to chop fresh herbs. It's simple to clean and has a handy lid that covers the contents of the bowl if you need to refrigerate it afterwards. Now, of course this isn't a full-size food processor. It's pretty small. But it's become an integral part of my kitchen. And for the price? Are you kidding me??? Why WOULDN'T you want to order one of these??!?! It's my favorite kitchen appliance!
