Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker EC1200 Grand Openings Can OpenerCustomer Review: They Don't Come Any Better Summary: 5 Stars
Any can opener will do your basic perfectly-round can of tuna. I have another test, for evaluating electric openers: (1) Does it open both ends of one of those slant-sided cans of corned beef? And (2) If it passes that test (and believe me, VERY FEW of them do -- most get stuck at the those squarish corners), how cleanly and easily does it do it?Well, this B&D "Grand Openings" does it superbly! Go get one while they still keep the price low. Based on its performance, it should cost much much more.
Customer Review: Not quite what I expected Summary: 1 Stars
To be quite honest, this item is not what I expected. It was larger then I first thought and didn't really work that well. It had problems opening beer, vodka and Captain Morgan. Not to mention when opening the box with all the cardboard and twist ties, I wasn't sure if I was opening a new product or freeing a POW from a prison war camp. And, I think when I couldn't get it to open a bottle it growled at me. Stay Clear of this one folks!
Customer Review: Clumsey and B&D says obsolete! Summary: 3 Stars
I have used the EC1200 for many years. It works well, but getting used to correctly positioning the can takes some practice. Best approach is aim the magnetic as close to center of can as possible.
Piercing blade finally became dull and eventually the handle that holds it broke. B&D website says the product is obsolete (etc). Since the handle and blade are one small, customarily removed item, it would be easy to replace.
Customer Review: Could cut a better edge. Summary: 4 Stars
This can opener replaced another Black & Decker can opener that finally gave out after 13 years. It is sorely missed and this new one comes in as a good replacement with the single observation that the edge of the can lid that is removed always has a ragged cut edge. Other than that minor drawback to watch out for when you take the lid off the magnet, it's a good can opener. Find it at discount prices and it's worth it.
Customer Review: don't buy this... Summary: 1 Stars
My under-the-cabinet can opener was good, but it didn't open big coffee cans well. When it finally stopped working, I purchased this one because it said it opened any size can, and it is a good name machine. It is horrible. The cutter falls off easily and it takes a couple of trys to get it started opening the can. I am throwing it out and buying something else.
