Customer Review: B&D Food Steamer
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is great and competatively priced. I recommend it to everyone! It is sturdy, compact, and light-weight. I had a smaller version of it for about 20 years. The timer seems to have broken after I turned it backwards to reduce the timing. It would have cost me more to fix it than to purchase a new one. The new one is most cost effective. You just add the rice and the water, set the timer, and walk away. If you like, you can forget about it, since the timer will shut the cooking off; alternatively, if you were to cook the rice on the burner, it could burn and you could forget about it to its demise. Rice comes out perfectly every time. It is super easy to clean and stores away most efficiently.

Customer Review: Was a great workhorse appliance for 15 years.....
Summary: 4 Stars

My B&D veggie steamer just packed it in after 15 years of loyal, trouble-free service. I used it to steam veggies all the time, never tried to use it for cooking rice. The veggies were cooked perfectly every time, never had a single problem with this machine until today. I realize 15 years is a long time in "appliance life," but it doesn't seem like that long to me. I'm really disappointed that it's died. I will replace it, because I love having a free-standing veggie steamer, but maybe not with another B&D steamer. I think I might go higher-end with a larger steamer with more gadgets next time. And then again I may buy another one of these, since I've had such a good, long experience with it.

Customer Review: I love this little steamer!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought the Black & Decker Flavor Scenter Steamer Plus about a year ago, to use when my boyfriend and I visit the USA. I didn't want to spend a lot, and so bought the cheapest one I could find at Supertarget. I forget what I paid, but it was less than $20.00 at the time.

It is so easy to use and clean, and just the right size for one or two people.

I must admit that I haven't used it to steam rice, so this review is based on steaming vegetables only. However, I use it every day when I am over here and the vegetables taste great.

For a compact, no-fuss little steamer, this one comes highly recommended.

Customer Review: Flavor Center More than a Gimmick!
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely agree that this should be a gift idea on everyone's shower/wedding/birthday lists. Just wanted to add that I consider the flavor steamer essential -- it's anything but a gimmick. People can never figure out how I added bay leaf flavor to my asparagus, or thyme flavor to the green beans. It's a clever way to add some variety to vegetables, especially if kids are eating them (but don't want to see any spices and herbs on the veggies themselves). Also, I can add something to the water (like wine), put one flavor in the steamer screen, and add another spice or herb to the bowl with the veggies. Creates nice complex layers of flavor.

Customer Review: Great gizmo
Summary: 5 Stars

This little item is great.
I cook a lot of rice so I though why not get a rice cooker? Turns out, I steam just about everything now. I am still trying to perfect the flavoring part and trying to find a good steamer book. But for the most part I love this rice cooker.

The instruction book tells you how much water and time to use for just about anything you'd want to have steamed, from vegetable to rice to meats.

And the price is really great too. When I was first looking at steamers, I though I'd have to spend close to $100 to get a decent one. Well no! $30.. How nice?
