Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker DCM7 Cup-at-a-Time Personal 12-Ounce Coffeemaker, WhiteCustomer Review: Perfect Little Coffee Maker Summary: 5 Stars
I received this coffee pot as a gift several years ago and use it almost daily! I suggest using a #1 or #2 filter, the included filter works, but some fine grounds do get through. The coffee comes out quickly and you get a steaming hot cup. Perfect for mornings when you don't have time for a whole pot. Also perfect if you like a variety of flavors. On weekends I'll switch flavors several times so you don't get tired of making a whole pot of one flavor and waste it. It's small for those who don't drink a lot or have a lot of space. It's easy to clean and small and easy to store when not in use. I plan on getting another one for my desk at work!
Customer Review: Good for 1-coffee-drinker households Summary: 4 Stars
If I had one complaint (and I do, since I only rated this 4 stars), it would be that I wish the cup space was a little taller. I have a travel mug that's tall and thin, and it doesn't fit.
Height notwithstanding, this coffee maker is great. Quick, effective and makes a tasty, hot cup of coffee. I do use a paper filter (4 cup filter, folded in quarters) as the gold filter doesn't quite work as well as it should.
I've used this coffee maker since January, and haven't had a problem. So, those of you whose spouses only drink hot chocolate, or who work in an office with non-imbibers, this may be the coffee maker for you.
Customer Review: Perfect for one cup. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a perfect little coffeemaker for 1 cup. No bells and whistles, but if you want easy one button function, this is it. It is very small (another plus for me), but it only has room for a 4in. cup so if you want to brew one of those tall insulated travel mugs it won't work for you. However B+D does make one that will support a tall cup. I had one of these a few years ago and went to a couple of more upscale models but I was'nt satisfied with them. I love the luxury of just pushing one button and having my coffee ready in about one minute with no filters to fool with. This is one of those great 'less is more' products.
Customer Review: Fast and convenient Summary: 4 Stars
I've had three of these little guys - they aren't durable and this drops one star from my rating but the price is right and overall performance is great. They are ideal for the family in a rush. Takes about 2 minutes to brew a cup of coffee. My wife uses it during the day to make a quick cup of fresh coffee between patients. We brew coffee but it can also provide hot water for tea or packaged soup. The manufacturer suggests coffee filters are unnecessary. The filter basket is indeed fine enough to keep grounds out of the cup but the clean up is a pain. We use #1 filters and just throw the junk away. A good buy.
Customer Review: Tricky to fill Summary: 2 Stars
I had a Cup-At-A-Time for many years when it finally started to fail. It wouldn't empty the tank completely leading to a partially filled cup. It worked well for such a long time that I didn't hesitate to purchase the new model. Well the new one performs just fine but the shape has been changed. The new shape is a bit futuristic and is difficult to fill without spilling some water on the countertop. The old shape had a square top which presented a large area to lean the cup against when filling. The new shape has a pointed and curved area at the top which requires greater accuracy when pouring the water into the tank.
