Customer Review: Can't beat 'em

I've owned several of these coffee makers over the years and they have all served me very well. I've never experienced the melting plastic issue that another reviewer described. Two things I do for ease in filling - I make a black mark to indicate the maximum fill capacity (which is slightly higher than the raised line that Black and Decker puts in there) using a permanent marker (Sharpie extra fine). A small black mark I can see first thing in the morning but that raised line I can not. And also I fill the coffee maker from my Brita pitcher. The pitcher has a narrow spout on it that allows for way better aim than a coffee mug. And I want to use filtered water anyway to prevent mineral build up.Customer Review: Great idea, terrible execution

A cup-at-a-time coffeemaker is a great idea, but this one was poorly designed and performed unacceptably. First of all, the water flows into the grounds so quickly that the compartment overflows. Second of all, because of the way it's made, when that happens the water with coffee grounds in it backs up into the water reservoir, which becomes filthy with coffee grounds. Third, because of the way it's made, it's not possible to open up the reservoir sufficiently to clean it out. So pretty quickly you've got some old coffee grounds stuck in the water reservoir, and your coffee starts tasting bad as a result. I ultimately gave up and got an electric kettle and a cone filter, that works much better.Customer Review: Junk

I bought the Cup-At-A-Time as a water-heater for my dorm room, and for a while it did it's job merrily, but several months after I bought it, it began to sputter out on me. Once, while loading the water after brewing a cup of tea fifteen minutes prior, steam shot out of the fixture and a piece flew out. It appeared to be a regulating apparatus that stops and starts the intake of water. I managed to put it back in, but time and time again, it dislodges. Another problem I noticed is the lid does not sit securely on the machine, and can be easily opened by a small child that may not know any better. I plan on returning this fixture to the store I bought it from for something different.Customer Review: I LOVE this Item!

I purchased this for my home office and I LOVE IT! I work odd hours and don't want to run our big coffee pot at 3 in the morning - but often want a cup of coffee... this was my answer!
It is also perfet for me becasue I LOVE flavored coffees and my husband does not. For years I have done without them becasue there is no need making them in a 10 cup pot when I am not going to drink that much coffee myself... Once again - this cup at a time pot saved the day and I have my wonderful flavored coffees again!
I use the Melitta #1 coffee filters, no grounds in my cup and SO easy to clean up!
I gave it 5 stars - but would give it even more if I could!

This is the perfect little coffee maker. My coffee never tasted so good. I would definitely advise purchasing #1 cone coffee filters for it though. I set my coffee up the night before and my husband, 30 minutes before going out the door for work pushes the ONE-PUSH button so that my coffee will be ready. If you don't have this option or you like your coffee really hot and you don't have a husband willing to do this, the coffee maker is very fast and makes excellent coffee. I have no disappointments whatsoever, just wish it had a timer, but then, I have my husband :) I consider this an excellent product, have no complaints and, in fact, would purchase it for a single friend.
