This B&D DCM500 coffee maker is inexpensive and reasonably attractive but next to useless. There are two problems, the first of which is a carafe with a very badly designed pouring spout. People have been making pitchers of various kinds for many thousands of years, so I fail to understand why this carafe drips coffee all over the place when you try to pour from it, no matter how careful you are. I asked another family member to try, thinking I might be doing something wrong, but she did no better. I solved that problem by using the 4-cup carafe from my old Mr. Coffee. But then the coffee-maker started leaking dirty water all over my kitchen counter every time I made a pot of coffee. I tried the fast and easy solution, and bought another B&D DCM500. It was inexpensive, and I thought perhaps I'd simply gotten a dud. No such luck. The second machine worked for maybe a month or two, and then it too began leaking. I now keep a small tray under the coffee maker, to collect the dirty water so that it won't continue to make a mess of my counter. In the meantime, I'm looking for a quality replacement.
