Customer Review: It can make very good coffee, can be messy

I ordered it based on Consumer Reports ratings and am not disappointed. I'm a coffee purist, seeking to increase quality and decrease quantity at work.
Strengths:
1. Can brew high-quality filter coffee (it took ~6 or 7 tries to get it just right)
2. small footprint, no burner, auto-off switch, can be disassembled/reassembled
3. The cup is a good water carafe; water doesn't dribble down the side when you pour it into the reservoir (hooray designers!)
Weaknesses:
1. Appearance is deceivingly unsubstantial - almost like a hotel-room coffeemaker
2. filter basket is messy and does not improve the coffee vs. #1 filters
3. Cup is rubber-lined, therefore unsuitable, imho, for drinking coffee. Its not particularly well-insulated either. I use a tall, preheated ceramic mug instead.
4. Prone to mess, esp if you overfill the basket/filter!! coffee grinds will go EVERYWHERE inside the machine, including into the water reservoir, requiring immediate cleanout (fortunately you can take much of it apart) Its a PERSONAL coffeemaker, i.e. anyone else using it for the first time is very likely either to overfill and make a mess or underfill and get disgustingly weak coffee.
5. The small amount brewed (into the cup) means the coffee can go cold before you finish it, so you are well advised to preheat (i.e. w/ hot water) any cup you use.
NOTE:
The machine is designed more for lefties than righties (like me). This minor inconvenience is offset by the existential benefit of knowing what it must be like to be left-handed in a world where most things are designed for right-handed people. You get used to it.
