Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Black & Decker DCM18 Brew 'N Go CoffeemakerCustomer Review: Love my Brew and Go Summary: 5 Stars
My current Brew and Go unit is nearly 20 years old! A friend visited me and we like different coffee so it was great because we could each have the coffee we like, fresh and hot with each cup.
I've schlepped the Brew and Go with me on vacation, and to various places where a coffee pot was not readily available. My unit is white, and I've taken good care of it. There's nothing wrong with my filter after all of these years.
The unit I have uses regular cups, as long as they fit between the dripper and the platform.
I bought my coffee maker at K-mart for about $10, so considering how great it is, I think that it's a bargain. Go ahead, if you like your coffee one cup at a time (and I DO!) then you'll love this.
Customer Review: Super product Summary: 5 Stars
I have had my current Brew 'n Go for 5 years. I don't know what others are complaining about because it makes a perfectly HOT, adequately strong cup of coffee EVERY TIME. On rare occasions when my wife made my coffee and put too much coffee in the filter, it overflowed slightly into the cup but it wasn't the fault of the product. I use a ladle, such as the ones supplied in many coffee cans. Put 2 ladles in and keep your basket and holder clean. Run a cup full of vinegar through once a month to clean it and you'll never have a problem. I suppose like any product, there may be the odd lemon out there waiting to be taken off some retailer's shelf but this is the second one of these coffeemakers I've had in the past 10 yrs and I've had no problems.
Customer Review: We wore our first one out and got another - works great! Summary: 5 Stars
This little pot is great for that one cup after dinner, when a whole pot is too much. To avoid the grounds floating up and into the reservoir make sure the filter is seated properly and that it is CLEAN! I wash mine after every use and don't have any problems with that. I've also used a standard paper filter with finely ground coffee, making sure that the edges are fanned open-you will get grounds in the res. if you don't - so then there's no sediment in the bottom of the cup when I'm done (from the really fine stuff)and the filter stays clean(er)- & you just toss the paper filter w grounds when done. I use a full scoop of coffee and add warmed milk to the finished brew when i want more of a Latte effect - it's great!
Customer Review: After 3 months coffee still tastes like plastic sometimes Summary: 3 Stars
So I decided to get this little coffee maker in lieu of my Keurig because the k-cups are just too expensive on my tight budget. I have been using the Brew N Go for about 3 months. From the start the first cup of coffee I brewed would smell and taste like plastic. Awful! I then started to brew water through the coffee maker before I brewed any coffee but it defeats the purpose of the Brew N Go concept. Sometimes the first cup will not smell, sometimes it will so it seems to be hit or miss these days. It has nothing to do with the travel mug it comes with. I have brewed into a ceramic cup with the same results. I wish I knew what the cause of this was so I think it is time for me to contact Black n Decker!
Customer Review: Life's Simple pleasures Summary: 5 Stars
This little devil will make you smile. I don't think brewing a cup o' joe could get any easier. I have had mine for about 3 months now. How I lived without it is beyond me.
Any short comings? Nope
Any suggestions? Nope
It works flawlessly.
Instructions:
Grind beans, pour beans in to filter. Pour cup water in to machine. Press button. Count to 100. Drink coffee. Clean Filter. Repeat.
The non-replaceable filter is perfect. It cleans easily, and nothing gets through it. No, you don't need to grind your own beans. But, this little guy makes it so easy, with the time you save using it, why not grind your own beans?
