I bought the 6 cup and had been reading how the smaller ones will make a small cup of coffee. Well if you are making regular coffee in it and use a 6 to 7 oz. cup to drink from like me, then this will make just over one great cup. But if you are using it for espresso, like you should, then you will fill a set of demitasse cups. All in all, this little stove top is a whole lot better then this big expensive machine I bought a few years ago. If I would have seen this first, I could have saved so much money! A lot easier to clean with just water and no bitter taste from the gasket, as I have seen before with other stove tops. Side note, when you do get this clean it first! When it comes to you, you will see a jelly like grease this is only a shipping lubricate and should be washed completely off with only hot water. If you don't then you will taste very bad, greasy espresso.

Like all Bialetti this one makes a nice, homely, perculated cup of coffee. With fresh ground beans and a bit of experience it is possible to create brew that is almost as good as an espresso machine, if not a little milder in flavour and at a fraction of the cost.
As expected '6 cups' is about perfect for 2 mugs of coffee with milk.
Bialetti get very grubby, very quickly. The pressure in the lower compartment causes a lot of limescale and mineral deposits to weld themselves to the inside. This is difficult to remove, even with a dishwasher or a vinegar solution.
Also, because they need to cool before you can use them again you can't really use them for large parties of friends.
That said, I often choose my stove top over my espresso machine. The maintenance and 'faff' are just that little bit lower.

This coffee maker is wonderful - it makes deep, rich coffee. The coffee is full-bodied, a little murky not clear - somewhere between a drip and french-press. But, it's not the European type with crema on top. BE AWARE: the 6-cup pot makes only one large mug or two small teacups of coffee. It is great for one person, but if you want more coffee than that, buy the larger pot. This is one of those errors easy to make with web purchase - I would have bought the larger pot if I had seen the actual size. The coffee is easy to make: put water in the bottom, add coffee to the filter part, screw on the top and heat. It's best to use moderate heat to avoid boiling the coffee. And, you have to keep an eye on it, you can't just push a button and come back later like you can with a drip machine. But, if you love good coffee, it's worth it!

First off, I have owned this particular Moka pot for about four years and I love it. But, and this a big "but", when you eventually have to replace the rubber gasket/seal ring - HOW DO YOU GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY AGAIN IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME? My friend has had to replace the rubber gasket twice and told me that it took forever (literally more than a month of daily use) for it to begin working properly again, and I have to admit that I was skeptical - well I'm not anymore as I recently replaced mine and am going through withdrawals as I wrestle and cajole a few precious drops out of it every morning. And I know it makes no logical sense for it not to work properly immediately, but it DOESN'T. Anyone with some insight into this would make me a very happy man if you knew a secret to solving this problem - Thanks!

If you want to make expressos quickly and without fuss, then the Bialetti line is the way to go. They are much cheaper than modern expresso machines which can set you back several hundred or even thousands of dollars, and yet make the perfect expresso shot as it has been made since the thirties in Italy.
It works by letting water boil in the lower half, forcing it up into the upper half through the coffee grain container in the middle. The simplicity explains the robustness of the device, made almost entirely of highly durable aluminium.
The result is a strong, dark shot of expresso which you can drink straight or with milk froth for a perfect capuccino.
I have had mine for over ten years, and it is still as good as new, with daily morning use.
