Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Best Nut CrackerCustomer Review: Good engineering/design but poor quality material Summary: 2 Stars
I ordered two of these and both arrived with the wooden handles broken, in the very same place. They were packed in different positions, so it could not have been an impact during shipping. I ordered them because the one I bought in a store a few years ago had broken in a different place, in the metal cup, after many uses, so I thought it was just worn from multiple stresses/impact. It's a great idea, easy to use, but needs to be made with more durable materials. We're cracking NUTS, here, folks, not jelly beans. Also, smaller nuts like hazelnuts might be difficult to crack in this- need to be repositioned sometimes to crack open.
Customer Review: "Love it!" Summary: 5 Stars
This product is GREAT! Bought it at a grocery thinking it might be ok but it turned out to be the best nutcracker I've ever owned! My dad loved it so I gave him mine and went looking for another. I can't believe it's not more popular yet. (It was a little hard to find) It contains the mess and cracks hazel nuts (smaller nuts) with little effort! I didn't know it opened bottles too, great idea! Other nut crackers make messes and take too long to get the nuts and are cheaply made. This product, although inexpensive, is well made and sturdy! MORE than worth it's low price! The inventor deserves kudo's!
Customer Review: Excellent Product and Very Good Seller Communication Summary: 5 Stars
I received the Nut Cracker very quickly. I referred many of my friends to this seller because I absolutely LOVE this product. I have a friend that works for a walnut company here in Northern California and he forwarded it to other employees he works with. We ALL love this nut cracker. It uses very little strength to crack the nut and it doesn't leave a huge mess. The shells fall into the little bowl attached to the end of the cracker and I just turn it over and they fall out into the disgarded nut shell bowl. Awesome!!! Everyone has to have one of these in their kitchen. :-)
Customer Review: Complete piece of garbage - don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
While this item appeared to be well-built, it broke after 23 nuts. I was attempting to crack the almonds from my tree and on only the 23rd nut, the entire item broke into 6 pieces. It never did a good job cracking the first 22. Not sure what it is designed for cracking, but certainly not almonds. Not even worth the trouble to try and get my money back and it sounds from others who have tried that the attempt would be unsuccessful. Please don't waste your money on this piece of crap.
Customer Review: Good Nutcracker Summary: 5 Stars
Friends had one of these so I shopped in town for one but had no luck. Glad I was able to find it on Amazon because after a little practice, I can get whole english walnut meats majority of the time. Have not tried it on filberts or almonds, but it should work on any pecan relative. I have seen other people have good luck with a style called a torpedo nutcracker that pressures the ends instead of the sides of the nut, but this style takes up a lot less space in your kitchen.
