I am a professional cook and I have one at work and at home. Use it all the time. I only wish it had some sort of cool way to store the blades and protective cover. I try to use the box for a while but eventually it breaks down or gets wet. Also, it is a bit narrower than my metal model (but nice and light in comparison) so I have to cut down beets or large fennel bulbs.Customer Review: Awesome finger--I mean vegetable--slicer.

I love using this for slaws with beets, carrots, and red cabbage. It is nice for slicing garlic as well. Like the other reviews state, you're probably bound to draw blood at least once with this tool, but if you hold your vegetables correctly and don't force it too much, you should be safe. They are cheaper than this at your local Asian market and on eBay.Customer Review: Dont pay extra for deleivery.

I asked a friend in the Dominican republic if I could bring him anything he asked me to bring Benriner Japanese Mandoline Slicer.
I ordered it on line and paid 30 dollars extra so that it would be here for me to bring and it arrived in 5 days. I was hoping to bring it with me but it took 5 day in stead of 3 days that I had paid for.

I use this tool every day. I have never cut myself with it, nor have I had any trouble with food catching on the blades. Like any cutting tool, it requires careful use. Used properly, however, it is a wonderful, simple tool. I saw this slicer in kitchens of my friends and was looking for it in ethnic stores, but it was always sold out. Finally, I found it here. This slicer is fairly easy for use, just remember that you should not apply much force, just slide the vegetable along with slight pressure, and you won't get any trouble or injury.
