I couldn't find these anywhere in the stores in summer 2008, so I ordered the lid lifter and jar lifter here and both work great. Makes life much easier when canning--no more unsteady tongs or using my silicone oven mitt to plunge my hand into boiling water.Customer Review: Canning jar lifter

This item is perfect for lifting canning jars out of hot water pot when canning. Saves on burned fingers. The price was just right.
Highly recommended for anyone using a water bath canner for tomatoes, etc.

I never knew that I would us this so much. I am able to handle the jars while canning. No longer do I burn my fingers, or get the potholders or towels all wet. It is easy to use, and it securely holds the jars when removing them from the canner.Customer Review: Jar Lifter: Old kind seem to be more efficient

This product is of high quality, but isn't efficient. The style of grip doesnt allow for quickly removing the jars for you need two hands to open and close the product. But if you are not in a rush, this products is well built.

The jar lifter made the whole canning process enjoyable. It worked perfectly to lift the hot jars from the canner. It also was easy to return the filled jars back to the canner for processing. You have to have it to do the job!
