Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Back to Basics CM300BR Cocoa-Latte Chrome 32-Ounce Hot-Drink MakerCustomer Review: Wonderful device! Summary: 5 Stars
We have had this device for 5 or 6 years now. It has been great! We use it for hot cocoa and latte. We buy the Folgers or Hills Bros cappuccino mix as well and add milk instead of the water and let it go, extremely tasty and is always hot! Finally after all these years of continuous use it has finally taken its last stand and I am on here to purchase a new one! Love it.
To some of the complaints on here regarding spilling or cord too short, my answer to those people is, there is a max line for you to measure by and where else would you be using this besides a kitchen that you would need more than 2 feet of extension cord?
Great device, highly recommend!
Customer Review: great for just 2 months.... downhill from there. Summary: 3 Stars
We absolutely loved this at first. It heats drinks a bit too hot, but that didn't bother us much. About a month and a half after daily use, the lever for the pour spout broke, so now we have to use it like a pitcher and pick the whole thing up to pour a drink. The lever was one of our main purposes for buying and now we don't have it. Also, the mixing mechanism on the inside is starting a weird clicking/chugging sound, and I notice at the bottom, it is starting to strip out a little, so I don't know how much longer the stirring will last :(
We were super excited for this, and now we're rather disapointed. Should have dished out a bit more $$ for a better product.
Customer Review: A Great Little Cocoa Maker!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I had a real problem with some of the reviews, However I purchased the Cocoa-Latte maker anyway. I'm really glad i did. I don't know why these people are giving it such bad reviews. I think it works great! It really heats up the cocoa good. It was very hot. I had to wait a little while for it to cool down. I've had no problems with it so far. It cleans up really easy also. The two pieces do come apart. The spout is also removable. The way these people talked really made me weary of purchasing it. It's also backed by a 1 year warranty against defects. I guess you can't please everyone!!!!!So what if you can't put it in a dishwasher. People have become so spoiled it isn't funny.
Customer Review: Better than stovetop, but not perfect Summary: 3 Stars
I agree with the other reviews: it's noisy, and the temperature may be "just perfect" when you pour, but cools off fast -- you feel like you have to chug it on the spot. I prefer it a bit too hot at first, so I can sip it slowly for a while.
It's not the noisiest thing I've ever heard, but when you're making a special hot drink you're probably in a quiet, cozy mood -- the noise from the machine can be a bit jarring.
It wasn't quite as frothy as I had expected, but it does have a layer of bubbles on top, for what that's worth.
It's still better than using the stove top, where you have to sit and stir, and it still ends up boiling over.
Customer Review: OK hot chocolate but not the solution Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this because i've been trying for years to make a gourmet cup of hot chocolate at home... with ease..
this machine is ok.. but it's not the kind of chocolate that one thinks.. i'd really like a cup of that..
we later discovered.. our answer..
scald cup of milk in microwave
put hot milk in Magic Bullet cup
add 2 squares of good dark unsweetened chocolate.. like Lindt's.. add level tsp sugar
pulse the hot milk in Magic Bullet.. 20 secs at time.. for several pulses..
it's as good as Starbuck's to my palate..
caution with slight increase pressure from blending hot milk.. that's why we pulse it..
