I never thought to review this handy kitchen tool, but I was writing my brother-in-law my latest apple-buckwheat-sweet-quick-bread-recipe and thought I should send a link with the best peeler in the world ... and here it is! I use this for potatoes as well ... you can use the peeling blade or not - I usually just use it to slice and core - my dogs and I eat apples every day with this wonderful device - easy to clean - easy to use - everyone who eats apples or makes potato salad would benefit!
One tip, when putting the apple onto the prongs, line it up with the bottom of the apple, I know that must seem obvious, but sometimes you look at the entire apple, and one side has grown fatter, but it looks round and then put the apple on crooked ... and even if you do it's no biggie!

I am so very happy that I bought this apple machine. It adjusts easily, and, when set according to manufacturer's instructions, does a nice job on apples. I find that it is efficient, taking neither too much with the peel nor too much with the core. The slices are a very nice thickness for baking or snacking. This model is capable of peeling, coring and slicing, just peeling, or just coring and slicing. I was a little leery of the vacuum-style securing, but it really works quite nicely for me and holds it firmly to the countertop. If you put apples up or bake them with any frequency, the amount of time this device will save you is well worth the price of admission. Just last night, my four-year old peeled, cored and sliced an apple in under one minute! I could not be happier.Customer Review: If you complain it leaves a lot of skin on your apples.. adjust it.

Its the typical ol' apple peeler. Uses a slightly different peeler than they did 150 years ago. But it works just as well.
I thought too that it must be crappy (i got mine at the goodwill) but I adjusted the set screw to allow greater arm movement and it works like a charm. Peels most potatoes (of course leaves the ends, as its not designed for potatoes.
Its a bit wasteful compared to some, but not as bad as me when I peel apples or potatoes.
I fear the slicer/corer piece will bend sooner or later, its just a flat piece of steel bolted on the end with no real support and only 1 wingnut. I may braze something on there if I can figure out a way to do it so as it doesn't interfere. Or just not worry about coring the apples.

We have an apple tree in our backyard that, about every other year, provides us with more apples than we can handle. As much as I love apple pie, apple cake and all the other great food items that contain apples, the chore of peeling hasn't been worth the effort to save the apples for our own consumption - we've always given them away. NOT ANYMORE. Thanks to the Back To Basics Apple and Potato Peeler, we saved over 80 percent of our apples this year. This device is ideal for anyone, of any age. It's easy to operate, easy to clean and does an outstanding job, making the chore a quick and simple process. It works so good, I ordered 15 more to give away as Christmas gifts this year. Hi my name is Troy. I am 38 years old. I lost my right arm when I was 20 on a conveyer screw when I was working. I never had real potatos it was always in a box. I married and my wife loves to cook but she finds it hard to peel potatos herself because she has Ruemitoid Athritis. This product helped my wife and I peel potatos and cook dinner. I want to help her and when I saw this product I found a way to do it. I tried it out and my wife even got out the camera because she was so happy that she finally does not have to suffer anymore by peeling the potatos. I just wanted to let you know that your product is the best I have ever seen and if you have anymore that can help my wife out I want to know. I have to rate this product the bomb.
