Customer Review: Thank goodness for a warranty!

I purchased the shatterproof beaker last summer, having gotten fed up with the too-delicate glass beakers. I also purchased a rubber-edged replacement filter from Bodum's website, which is needed for the plastic beaker. Bodum also recommends not using boiling water with the plastic beakers.
Initially, I was pretty happy with the beaker. The fact that it was plastic did not seem to compromise the flavor of my coffee. Like other reviewers, though, I noticed more and more cracks developing as I used it. About a month ago, I started to actually hear it cracking each time I poured in water. Today was the sad day that it began to leak.
According to Bodum's website, this item is covered by a one year warranty. When I called their customer service number, they tried to tell me that glass AND plastic beakers weren't covered, even though the warranty clearly states glass only. When I insisted that plastic was in fact covered, the rep told me that they'd give me a one-time replacement, as if they were doing me a favor in honoring their own warranty! He claimed that their warranty just hadn't been updated on the website...
I'll be switching back to glass if I have the same problems with the new replacement!
