It really is worth 5 stars.. when I got it I was impressed that it does look even better than the picture, is very sturdy, and a functional work of art for your kitchen. I almost passed on it because of the price, but I couldn't stand that old plastic one we had that just didn't cut it - didn't look too good and tipped over. So this was an investment, a very functional piece that will be on the counter all the time, and definitely be a conversation piece for guests!! I'll be looking into acquiring more Arthur Court items, excellent quality.
One other note, in the photo above, the bananas must be really short because they are very high over the fruit in the bowl, whereas our regular size bananas hang down much lower (don't laugh, I'm really talking about the bananas here!). But the hook is just the right height and I will probably put shelled nuts in the bowl instead of fruit.
Description of Arthur Court Monkey Banana Holder with Bowl
Inspired by their love of the jungle and its inhabitants, Arthur and Elena Court designed this wonderfully whimsical and fabulously functional monkey banana holder. The banana leaf base design, made of Arthur Court's signature premium aluminum alloy, creates a well for the 9 inch frosted glass shallow bowl to sit, displaying your favorite fruit. The handle attaches to the base on one side and curves upward toward a hook to hold bananas while they ripen naturally. A darling family of monkeys climb upward on the handle, seemingly to investigate how the ripening process is coming along. After all, monkeys should know that, unlike most other fruits, the banana actually develops better flavor when picked green and ripened off the bush.Truly one-of-a-kind, there is no need to worry about duplicating gifts when giving this charming and whimsical banana holder from Arthur Court. The piece is both functional and a unique countertop ornament. Standing 17 inches in height, a long, sturdy arch stretched over the accompanying bowl while carrying two inquisitive monkeys. One of the monkey tails hangs down from the top to form a banana hook designed to suspend the yellow fruit in the air. Featuring the designer's premium signature aluminum alloy, the round base measures 9-1/2 inches across and comfortably houses a frosted, white glass bowl. This bowl can ably cradle a sizeable collection of additional fruits if desired. Heavyweight and sturdy, the piece won't bend or tip and its simple assembly consists only of inserting and tightening the two included screws.
