For Christmas, 2007, I purchased the Anolon Advanced 12-piece cookware that included two other pieces for free. I chose the Anolon Advanced after reading many reviews first. I wanted this investment to last me a lifetime. This Christmas, 2008, I asked for the 3 1/2 quart covered straining saucepan because I want to keep adding pieces to the set as well as this pan makes sense and is practical.
I am very happy with my cookware investment. I love how easy cleanup is - in a snap! I never use metal utensils with these pans; I only use a nice set of plastic utensils and wooden spoons. Food cooks evenly and tastes wonderful. These pans are sturdy, heavy, but not too heavy and the handles do not get hot. The glass lid handle does not get hot. These pans get a workout in my kitchen and they look as good as new! These pans are classy in the charcoal gray color rather than faddish colors. I do not want these pans to scratch while in storage so in between the frying pans I keep a piece of thick cardboard which works out great.
I wanted the straining pan to prevent from burning myself when cooking pasta or vegetables, or anything that needs strained. This is a great pan in contrast to my old method of holding a pan lid back a bit to strain. That is an accident waiting to happen! I see there are more "new" pans available for the consummate cook. All pans have a purpose and function terrifically.
My husband thinks these pans are awesome! Ladies don't worry about men not cleaning up with these pans, it is a cinch!

A clever design for straining, pouring or covered cooking. The lid, made of see-through, break resistant glass, has a deep rim with optional straining holes. To strain, line the holes up with the pan's pour spouts and strain with ease. For covered cooking, rotate the lid to close the holes and moisture will stay inside the pan. To pour, remove the lid and use the pour spouts that are built into the pan body.
