This giraffe tea kettle looks absolutly ridiculous--I love it!! I was wary of buying it from the countless reviews bashing this little guy, but I did anyways, and I don't regret it. This is the first tea kettle I've ever had, so I can't compare it to any other traditional teapots, but I really really love it. I'd recommend it. A lot of reviewers said that the whistle "didn't work", well mine did, but it wasn't the loud frightening screech of traditional teapots, but it sounded more like a freight train slamming on it's breaks. Yes, it's annoying, but a regular tea kettle whistle is ReaLLY annoying. another person said it Dribbled. well, anything you're pouring water out of will drip. This tea kettle does drip if you don't pour it quick enough. I find that it DOESN'T drip if you put the lip of your cup/pot right underneath the bend in the spigit! XD My water, even cold and chilled from the fridge, no matter how much there was, boiled within 10 minutes. Which is typical of any pot of water. These subtle flaws were over looked by me. and I quite enjoy filling my giraffe teapot every day to have a cup of tea. I reccomend it for someone, perhaps that isn't expecting someing that's EXCEPTIONALLY better than their 60 some odd dollar teapot. but, if you can learn to live with some occasional dripping, a low pitched whistle (i actually like this better than the traditional), and an ADORABLE giraffe on your stovetop!!! I'd totally recomend it for yourself, and a gift.
