I just got this today and I realize that you have to assemble the stand to the plate with a bolt and nut which is a hassle because if you want to put it away you have to take it apart again. The aluminum is quite lightweight and unsturdy against the stand as it wobbles when you put the glass dome on which weighs A LOT, over 5 pounds i would say. When you put the dome on, it slides back and forth against the plate, which I think they can improve by adding a groove so it doesnt smush the edges of your cake. The metal dome is only 3.5 inches high which doesn't add a lot of extra room if you frost a double layered cake and the diameter of your cakes must be less than 9 inches as the dome is 10 inches in diameter. Overall I would return the item but the shipping fee wouldn't be worth it if i send it back as this item is very heavy.
