Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of American Weigh Signature Series Black AWS-100 Digital Pocket Scale, 100 by 0.01 GCustomer Review: Not suitable for my purposes Summary: 3 Stars
This scale arrived promptly and it is very compact. I needed a small scale to weigh very minute amounts(.03G) of powdered vitamins. Unfortunately, this scale is not sensitve enough for my needs and I usually get no reading at all - even though the powder has been placed squarely on the scale.
The scale may need to be calibrated. I didn't purchase the weight necessary to calibrate but I did weigh a nickel several times. A nickel weighs close to 5gms and I got slightly inconsistent readings each time.
Customer Review: very nice scale*** Summary: 5 Stars
This is an ideal scale for coin collectors, jewelry or any need to weigh small items under 100 grams. I used to work in an engineering lab this has a real nice instrument grade feel it is not a toy. At reasonable price you can weigh to 0.01 gram other pocket scales only weigh to 0.1 gram. Has Gram, OZ, Carat, Grain and tare weight modes very easy to use and portable. Don't forget to order the 100 gram calibration weight also. You will not regret this purchase.
Customer Review: great scale Summary: 5 Stars
this little scale is great for the price. unbeatable actually. I have had good experiences with american weigh in the past and this is no different. I have had this for about a month and everything is in working order. it is off on nickels (supposed to be 5 grams, shows up about 4.96) however for my needs, that is fine. i have a 100 gram weight and it shows that as 99.99. so obviously it is fairly accurate. for $13 who cal complain? not me. great deal!
Customer Review: Nice Little Scale Summary: 4 Stars
The design is very nice. When I first got the scale out of the box, it wasn't working. The batteries were already dead when they arrived, but that's not a big problem. The scale wasn't calibrated, but with a press of a button it reset itself. To accurately weight things, it has to be on a flat surface, because it is very sensitive. For my purpose (comparing scaled objects), this thing does a wonderful job, but I can't say so much about it's accuracy.
Customer Review: Easy to use, weight a little off Summary: 4 Stars
Mine consistently weights things about four or five one hundreds of an inch too heavy. This is after calibrating it with a 100 gram weight. This is close enough for my purposes, but it has never weighed anything within one one hundredth of an inch. Other than that the unit seems easy enough to use.
Does anyone know why it has a compartment for two extra batteries (4 total) when it runs ok with 2 batteries?
