Customer Review: Wonderful little scale

I got this to go with my gourmet Experimental Kit Texturas because I knew I'd have to do fractional measurements of grams for the recipes. It also occurred to me it would be very handy for spice measurements for my sausages. It turned out to be the perfect tool.
100 grams isn't a lot, but you want this to go with your fine measurements of spice, especially if you're a picky chef.
Now, I realize that this is mostly for all you coin and gem people out there, but us cooks can put it to good use, too.
There's a standardized weight. If money is on the line with coins and gems, you'll probably want that. For cooking, I don't think you need the standard weight.

In terms of description matching features this set of scales matches it exactly. It performs exactly as advertised and is quite well designed. Unlike other scales I have used of this side there are no protruding plastic that interfere with weighing bulky, yet light, objects. The hinged lid is a bonus as it ensures the screen surface and scales are protected.
The build quality exceeds the price paid, however don't expect to be able to throw it around without thought as it definitely isn't designed to be rugged. Uses already identified (and used for) include weighing gems (turns out they were fake anyway!) in carats, weighing coffee beans in grams and measuring powder in grains.
The scales are sensitive, accurate and cheap. Overall very happy with my purchase.

Seems to work well but lower weights (MGs) will produce some questionable inconsistencies. Typically multiple weighings will come up with what seems like an accurate # though. So all in all for the $ it's a very good product. Also comes with batteries and packaged nicely.
I will warn you that you need to buy an additional weight for proper calibration. I have not needed to calibrate yet but I don't recall this being mentioned on the product summary .. though I might have overlooked it too! These weights are cheap and easy to get also so not a deal breaker imo. Some similar units can be calibrated with a nickel, this one cannot.
Considering the usual price of similar units, I would recommend this product.

This scale is a great value for the .01 gram precision it offers. Once calibrated it is quite sensitive and accurate. Mine came quite far from calibrated, but based on the other reviews here it appears this is only a fluke. The scale is lightweight and very portable, being roughly the same size as a Nintendo DS Lite. Build quality is good; it looks like it will last a long time if used properly and carefully. Comes with two AAA batteries and a space for storing a pair of extras. Very nice scale for the price.
One hint about calibration: if you forget to buy the 100g calibration weight, you can simply use 20 U.S. nickels, as each nickel is exactly 5g.

Purchased this digi scale to accurately weigh spices as well as precious metals and stones. Unit is well constucted and easy to operate. I took it to my jeweler who owns a commercial unit. We calibrated both with a 50g weight and side by side this unit's average readings were nearly identical to his. The snap-locking flip lid is a nice feature which protects the weighing surface as well as providing handy written user intructions. Blue LCD readout is crisp and easy to read in any light. Only drawback is the small weighing surface area, which of course is the tradeoff for having such a compact portable unit. All in all a very good scale for the price.
