Someone left a kitten on our front porch. We heard it meowing. Opened the door, and there was this kitten, with a half-bag of cat food and a terrycloth wash cloth.
Oh, no. No cat for us. We already had a dog. Never had a cat. And my wife is allergic to cats.
Well, as you cat lovers may guess, we fell in love with "Gracie". But my wife was still allergic. So we tried Allerpet.
Simple review: it works! We put it on Gracie about every two to four days, and...it works!

Works okay, not great, not bad. Downsides: have to reapply frequently, makes my head hurt due to smell (yes, if sensitive to smells you CAN smell it when applying but not after it dries per say), it is damn expensive. Upsides: works well when acclimating to a cat, but would recommend allergy immunotherapy shots for long term results. Good for a short-term fix, not something you would want to do long-term. Its time-consuming, it does smell, it pisses my cats off, and it is very expensive.Customer Review: All in an evening...

Allerpet/c - 12 oz - For People That Are Allergic to Cats
My husband is the one with the allergies. Now that the hot weather is here, we shave the underside of the cats (it doesn't show, and they love the cool floor on their bellies). Quick dip in the tub, and a rub down with Allerpet/c. What else is there on a Saturday night?

I've started using tuna duing the bath-time so they'll start liking it. :) It is also a great idea to furminate first, then apply the allerpet-c. It is very easy to use - just rub in and wipe down the kitty and you have a week of less-reaction-causing kitty in the house. That means they are also shedding less allergens throughout the house - not just that someone allergic can pet your cat and not break out - though that is part of the benefits. I was anxious to try this product, due to all of the positive reviews. However, after a few weeks of applying it once a week to our cats, I haven't seen any results, at all.
The cats don't seem to mind it too much, but I'm very dissapointed in the lack of results. There has seemingly been no change in allergy levels inside my house.
