Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of All-Clad LTD 11-Inch Square Nonstick Grill PanCustomer Review: I hate this pan, but I hate myself more for not replacing it sooner! Summary: 1 Stars
I saw this product listed as I was shopping for a new grill pan... which I was doing because I own this pan and hate it! Mine is almost 9 years old, and I haven't replaced it sooner because I just couldn't face the fact that my fancy expensive pan stinks, and I did not want to spend money to replace it. That was obviously quite dopey on my part, but I digress. My gripes are these: (1) Impossible to clean thoroughly. Even with lots of cooking spray or oil and immediate clean-up, I can never get all the cooked-on bits off. (2) Does not heat evenly AT ALL. This is especially evident when I am boiling water in the pan (to try to get all the burnt-on bits off) -- bubbles only form in the distinct shape of the gas burner under the pan. But it is also apparent whenever I cook more than one burger or steak or whatever. Rotating the food frequently helps a little, but with more than one item in the pan there is almost always a section that cannot be placed over the hot spot.
I am kicking myself for suffering with this terrible pan for so long!
Maybe All-Clad has improved this product since mine was manufactured so long ago, but I notice that older reviews also mention the impossible-to-clean quality.
Customer Review: Pricey, but I guess it's "ALL CLAD" Summary: 3 Stars
Well I've had this grill since Jan.2003 and it's still here today.. so I guess it beat all my non-stick disposable pots/pans!! I took a vow never to buy non-stick that's why. Anyway, this grill performs nicely if you have it on medium heat. It does not heat evenly though(my experience). It is not NON-stick %100 though, I don't know why..stuff sticks to it??
The design it nice. All the juices stay in the pan..minimizing splatter. I make grilled cheese sandwiches if I don't want the fat.
I would recommend it if you are into buying non-stick but would not if you just wanted a grill. To me cast iron grills are the best. I use this pan if I'm only cooking for one, amybe two. My cast iron grill is a double burner grill, I use it for family meals. But anyway I give it 3 stars. It is hard to clean up like the reviewers said though, I usually have to soak it, and scrub.
Customer Review: Better Than George Foreman Summary: 5 Stars
I have only owned this item for about 3 weeks and have used it at least 10 times already. What I like about it is that it is big enough to hold just about anything, leaves nice "grill marks", takes less energy and time to heat the pan, and it is very very easy to clean. If you find it hard to clean, it is probably because non-stick spray or even oil (not including butter) is being used. Don't do it. It is already "non-stick". Usually I put any oil that is needed on the meat or veggies first, then cook it. If you have a sticking problem, after cleaning the pan, rub a little soft scrub 0n the spot. This gets rid of any residue that may have caused the sticking to begin with. I think it is better than George Foreman, becuase the fat doesn't drain away which, in the end, saves the flavor.
Customer Review: Great grill pan! Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned this grill pan for almost 2 years now and it does a great job of grilling everything from burgers to chicken, fish and thick steaks. It has the ability to heat up to a very high temperature, enabling me to nicely sear the outside of the meat. I can then pop the whole pan in the oven to finish cooking the inside of thick steaks or just to keep warm. As for clean up, the pan does need to sit and soak for a little while but after that, everything comes off with relative ease. No hard scrubbing involved. Overall, I love this product and highly recommend it.
Customer Review: Like a Grill Inside! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this pan after hearing my sister rave about it. It is terrific. I have grilled salmon, hamburgers, chicken breasts and pork tenderloin. Luckily, my sister gave me the secret to using the pan and easy clean up. Preheat the pan on Medium heat for ten minutes. DO NOT use any cooking spray or oil. This will ruin the pan. When you are done cooking, just fill the pan with soapy water and let soak for a few minutes. Rinse with water, scubbing lightly if necessary .
I would highly recommend this pan. It is like having a grill inside!
