Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of All-Clad 99009 Stainless-Steel 6-1/2-Quart Slow CookerCustomer Review: Most disappointing Summary: 1 Stars
I wish I could rate this product 0 stars. I've had this slow cooker for about a year and used it quite a few times for a variety of recipes. From the very first use the machine has exuded a peculiar rubbery smell and I believe I can even taste it in the food. I thought I was imagining it until I started reading reviews of the product online. My ceramic insert hasn't cracked (yet), but with all the tales here about its failure I'm now afraid to use the unit while I am out of the house. Moreover, the ceramic is impossible to get fully clean--there's a chalky discoloration on the interior that cannot be removed--and the plastic surface on the readout screen cracked in several places after one use. What garbage. I got the thing as a gift and am about to dump it and get one that really does what it is supposed to do--make food that tastes and smells good.
Customer Review: Not Worth The Money - Use Your Oven Summary: 3 Stars
I had electronics issues with a Hamilton Beach programmable slow cooker so I decided to take it back and get the top of the line slow cooker. This All-Clad was on everybody's "Best Of" lists, so I got a discount on a display model at Bed Bath & Beyond and ended up paying $150. For three or four months I used it constantly for chicken, oatmeal, ribs, beef, fish and even chocolate chip cookies. It worked great, but even though I was incredibly careful cleaning it (did I mention I paid $150?) soon I noticed cracks forming on the ceramic insert. I did some research and found others had the same issue and they were out of luck. I tried my favorite oatmeal recipe in a souffle dish in the oven at 190 (the slow cooker's "low" temperature), and it turned out just as good as in the slow cooker, so I took the All-Clad back. I'll just use the oven from now on.
Customer Review: All-Clad Slow Cooker Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the All-Clad slow cooker to replace our old Rival Crock Pot that broke, it was a good crock pot. I did some research on-line to find the best replacement and could not find any bad press on the All-Clad 99009. Now that we have had it for a month or so and used it several times I understand why, We love the style and the ease of use,the display is vibrant and so far it cooks just great if we have a few pieces of chicken or a large ham or beef roast. My wife especially likes how it automatically goes into warm mode and for up to six hours. It does cost a little more than most slow cookers i checked out but in my opinion it is worth every cent,I would recommend this slow cooker to anyone. Customer Review: It's a Cracked Pot, not a Crock Pot Summary: 1 Stars
I've got loads of All-clad cooking pots and pans. I love them. When my college-era Rival Crock pot died though, I wept. Naturally, I went to All-clad, expecting greatness. I used it frequently and babied it. Though it was a bit on the hot side, and the lid didn't seal allowing some things to dry out, I was happy enough until I noticed a crack developing. Then I started reading about MANY others with the same problem, and their general difficulties getting it replaced. Like me, many reported disbelief and horrible customer service. Less than 2 years out, and this expensive slow cooker is cooked?
All-clad does well with steel. They should just stay with what they do well. Don't spend your money on this unless you have money to throw away, and then you're probably not using a slow cooker at home anyway....
Customer Review: Not worth the money Summary: 1 Stars
I received this slow cooker as a Christmas gift. After using it maybe 10 times the control stopped working and it won't even turn on. I e-mailed All-clad and had a very quick response: "We would like to speak with you to obtain additional information and details regarding your recent experience with our product". Although they were very polite, all they really wanted to know was the purchase date so they could tell me it was not covered by warranty and did not even ask what the problem was. They did say that I could contact the closest repair center to have it repaired but that would be at my expense. All I can say is that my old slow cooker which cost $39 still works after 10 years. I am very disappointed and would not recommend purchasing this product.
