Sometimes you want a regular surface pan instead of a non-stick surface. When you're frying steaks, for example, or browning chicken breasts. The goal is to produce fond, so you can make a flavorful pan sauce. Even heating means no hot spots. This is a kitchen essential. I bought this pan for a christmas present for my husband. he loves to cook. I find myself using it alot also. It's so nice to cook with. I bought the cover separately but now wonder if I should have. I don't think I'll be using the cover much since it's a frying pan. Just something to think about. But the pan is outstanding!!!!Customer Review: Worth every penny

This is the single most important ccoking pan I own. I have had this and many other All-Clad pots and pans for several years and all of them are in just as good shape today as 6 years ago. The all metal constuction is such a help when you go from on top of the stove to inside the oven. I would never buy any other brand or style.Customer Review: all clad 12 inch fry pan

Overall it's a great fry pan, heats pretty evenly, cooks real nice and is oven ready. The handle could have been more oven glove friendly. You get the feeling it wants to flip unless you jamb a thumb into the top. If I had it to do again, I'd look closer at the less than $100 pans.

" I love the All-Clad brand and ordered the 12" fry pan after seeing the review on Cook's Illustrated podcast. The order/shipping processes were easy and expedient. The pan is a great size for most anything; it cooks and cleans well, and looks good hanging on the rack. Money well spent for a pan that will last a lifetime.
