Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of All-American 30-Quart Pressure Cooker/CannerCustomer Review: All-American 30-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner Summary: 5 Stars
I'm very happy with the cooker. I cooked beef in it and used it for canning. The instructions for both were very easy to follow. When I was researching what cooker to buy, I finally decided to pay more and get the heavy duty cooker that people were reviewing as the one that will last for ever. I've used this product several times, and agree that it will probably last me, my children, and my grandchildren. I've never owned a pressure cooker before this one, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but here's what I love about this one: heavy duty, no seal to replace, made in Milwaukee, capacity for 14 quart jars. I also wanted to challenge a couple of negative reviews I read prior to buying this. I read that the cooker was very heavy. Correct, and I like the heavy duty design. I read that it was hard to clean and handle. Correct, and I like the heavy duty design. I read that the lid sometimes gets stuck. The instructions say to use a screwdriver. I did that and it worked. I read that it cooled very slowly after canning. What I do is release the pressure by turning off the heat and then use a towel to take off the pressure weight. The pressure releases in a minute or two and I can take off the cover immediately after that.
Customer Review: THis is the worst canning product ever! Summary: 1 Stars
I was so excited to get a canner that can do such huge amounts and to upgrade from my $10 thrift store purchase of a presto canner. I have had nothing but trouble.
The first time was actually ok, sadly because that was still within the 30 day return policy. The second time I used it steam was billowing out of the canner. I stopped and fixed that with more petroleum jelly. Apparently has to be applied every time. I recanned the beans the next day and now the lid is stuck on the canner. I was using the handle on top to turn it and it started twisting in my hands and the plastic covering shattered. I am not a strong person, but apparently I was able to bend a metal handle. I have yet to call the company, but the advice I am reading on the internet is to beat it with a mallet. Does not sound gentle to me.
overall I am very very unhappy with this canner. NExt time I will take my parents advice and go with the one from Lehmans.. more expensive but lasted them for years!!!!!!!

Customer Review: Very Well Made! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the most well made pieces of kitchen equipment I've ever seen, never mind owned. I have 3 other smaller pressure cookers, a presto 16qt,a Fagor, and some sears brand I forget the name, and they are all flimsy junk compared to this! I think it will probably last multiple lifetimes. They Hold a TON... It is a little bit hard to get my stove to heat it up it's so big, but it does, and its a real time saver processing that many jars at once. The price may seem pretty steep at first, but when you actually get it home and look at the precision of the craftsmanship you will be asking yourself how they can possibly make something this good and sell it so cheap! No cheap 3rd world junk here! Just imagine what a precision aluminum aircraft part made in the USA of this size would cost! With the hard times I'm afraid may be ahead of us this may be one of the best investments you could make! Stock up on some heirloom seeds while you are here just in case!
Customer Review: Good purchase Summary: 5 Stars
This pressure canner is every bit as sturdy as other folks have stated in their online reviews. For those who state that the lid "sticks" a little, I found it to be very good advice when someone stated that they put a little petroleum jelly around the lid before locking it down to prevent anything from sticking - it worked. Other than that issue, please know that this canner will last a lifetime. Wanna keep buying canned goods from foreign countries around world, or from canneries where the packing process is "questionable?" Or do you wanna just go ahead and can your own fresh stuff? To me it is a no-brainer. Don't be scared to use this canner. It looks big and bad, but it runs like a baby if you follow the instructions. Worth the purchase, for sure! By the way, I am a first-time canner who is not considered genius at this stuff. If I can can with this canner, so can you!
Customer Review: American 30qt pressure canner Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this around 8 months ago and absolutely love it! I have 5 children and we are really busy and this allows me to make large quantities of food much faster than normal. So far I have used this cooker as a large crock pot for soups stews and chilli's. I am also getting into canning with it. You can literally make chicken soup that is out of this world from frozen chicken to serving in less than 1/2 hour. I make vegetable soup with frozen chuck roasts from frozen to serving in less than 1/2 hour. This is a heavy pot and you need to make sure it will fit on your stove top without interfering with any hood or microwave. My microwave is recessed about 6 inches and that allows me to turn the cooker pressure gauge so that it is in the front of the stove not interfering with the microwave. Make sure you check that before buying it.
