Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker with Bonus 350 Micro Filters

Customer Review: Push It Real Good
Summary: 5 Stars

Despite glowing reviews and this gadget inventor's pedigree, I was still skeptical. I was so eager to test it I started the boiler before I unpack AeroPress. After 4 cups of espresso grind, 8 oz of water, and a good push, I am now a believer. Everything performed as I visualized and the clean up was... ridiculously minimal. I almost felt guilty NOT having much to clean up afterwards. ~written while sipping on a nice cup of espresso

Additional Comment 3/31/2010:
After 2+ weeks of using this product on a daily basis I must come back and add another star to my rating. If you like your coffee smooth, strong, and the way you like it, there's not another product like it elsewhere. The pressing part might be more difficult if using a fine grind and has 3+ cups of coffee grinds. I personally has no problems at all but I would suggest trying with 1 cup of coffee grind to get use to the pressure as you press. You gonna love this!!

Customer Review: Meh.

This is a fussy and expensive way to go about making coffee. And just slightly better than mediocre coffee at that. First, heat the water to 175º (Huh? I need a thermometer, too?). Then scoop in enough coffee grounds to make a full pot of French press so that you can get (only) three shots of espresso*. Then let it sit. Then press it down, carefully but firmly (too carefully, it won't press but too firmly and the grounds blow out the sides). Then add more hot water if you want a more traditional style coffee rather than espresso. OR, just make coffee. I bought this to use in my office where the regular coffee was god-awful. I ended up just buying my own small brewer for my desktop. *BTW: I have a Bialetti three-shot stove top espresso maker that blows this Aero-thingy out of the water in quality, ease of use and speed of coffee delivery. Skip this, buy that instead. You're welcome.

Customer Review: Affordable Espresso at Home!
Summary: 4 Stars

I love lattes but can't justify $4 every time I want one. I only allow myself a coffee shop latte once a week. I also can't afford, and don't have space for a large $500 espresso maker. I've been intrigued by the Aeropress after seeing it on a blog. I must admit it wasn't until after an amazing local coffee shop began selling the Aeropress (for a couple bucks more than Amazon's price) did I finally take the "plunge".

I'm so glad I did! I am far from a coffee aficionado, but I think this makes GREAT espresso for lattes! It's simple to use, and easy to clean. I just need to find a box or some way to store it all together, because I tend to lose things. I've even used it to make a cup and a half of espresso, so that I could make a coffee ice cream!

If you love espresso drinks, but are looking for a way to cut costs this is a great option!

Customer Review: Keurig smurig
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this press for over 2 years and am still loving it enough to log-in just to make this review. I recently got a Keurig single serving coffee maker at work and the Aeropress just has no competition.

I drink my coffee black so i'm very sensitive to the acidity of the coffee and with the Aeropress there is no such acidity. The Aeropress is almost as convenient and definitely does not create any extra waste in comparison to the keurig. All you get in the trash is a small round piece of paper which can totally be reused many times over.

You can make really strong coffee and really weak coffee. Unlike the keurig where it just uses more or less water, the Aeropress allows you to add as much or as little coffee grounds to feed the need.

In a nutshell:
I Love it. Totally portable, Totally easy and Totally quick.

Customer Review: It really makes a difference!
Summary: 5 Stars

A friend at work kept telling me that coffee did not need to be bitter - even strong coffee. I did not believe him until I started using this coffee maker.

Although not long, the instructions contain great information about how to make really good coffee.

I have had mine for 3-1/2 years, made less than 350 cups of coffee, and it is still in good shape. The quality of the rubber and plastic seems to be excellent and durable. It would be hard to break this thing.

It takes about seven minutes to make a cup of coffee:
__Start heating water
__Measure & grind beans
__Put ground beans in tube
__Wet grounds - wait a few seconds
__Pour in water
__Stir for 10 seconds
__Wet plunger
__Plunge (about 25 seconds)
__Cleanup stuff

Enjoy.
