This butter keeper looks very nice, but to keep it that way you have to hand wash it. It is not dishwasher safe (the item description says hand wash). If you want a butter keeper you can throw in the dishwasher, look elsewhere. I don't mind hand washing this, so I like it just fine, and it does look nice enough to use on the table.Customer Review: Save your money

This looks great at first even though the "handle" on the top is too small to grasp. But, after one pass in the top rack of the dishwasher, it has developed numerous hairline cracks giving it a spider web appearance!
