The 8 of 0.5W LEDs use only 4.5 watt of electricity, compared to 45 watt of halogen lights. It is a kind of solid state environmental friendly lighting without mercury, infrared and ultraviolet, contains no filament. It also has advantages of shock or vibration resistant, flicker free, instant on/off, and minimized maintenance hassles. Directional lighting generates much less wasted light (energy).
