Like others I used to buy the rolls of these bags in my local kitchen store until they stopped selling them (these were the "pre-handle" bags). I used them for used cat litter and they'd hold a good 5 lbs without double bagging. These new ones are so thin that I can't put anything in them without the handles stretching and nearly pulling off. They are NOT the same product as they used to be. If you have only very light items with no sharp edges they might work for you, but they're way too light for what a 5 gallon bag should be. Get the cheapest generics at the supermarket and they're a lot better.
